SUMMARY

Problem & Solution

Problem

Users face challenges discovering and accessing audiobooks within the Spotify app, making it less intuitive than the seamless experience of music streaming

Solution

Redesign the audiobook experience on Spotify to make it as effortless and intuitive as listening to music.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

Pain Points

  • There is no way for a user to purchase an audiobook directly on the mobile app

  • You cannot see any written reviews from users on an audiobook

  • There is currently nothing that sets Spotify apart from other apps that offer audiobooks

FEATURES

Audiobook Recommendations

Enhance the homepage experience by introducing audiobook recommendations tailored to users' listening habits. Similar to Spotify’s “Daily Mixes,” which curate playlists based on a user’s music preferences, this feature would integrate audiobooks into personalized categories within curated playlists. This addition ensures users discover relevant audiobooks seamlessly alongside their favorite music.

FEATURES

Audiobook Premium Subscription

Introduce a dedicated Premium subscription for audiobook enthusiasts. As Spotify expands its audiobook offerings, this new tier would provide added value through exclusive benefits and incentives, ensuring audiobooks gain a stronger presence and appeal to a growing audience.

FEATURES

Audiobook Wrapped

Bring the magic of Spotify Wrapped to audiobooks! This end-of-year recap highlights users' audiobook journeys, showcasing metrics like total audiobooks listened to, favorite titles, and most explored categories. Audiobook Wrapped not only celebrates the user’s engagement but also encourages future exploration.

FEATURES

New Payment Method

Integrating an in-app payment option streamlines the purchase process for audiobooks, making it easier and more effective for users. Currently, Spotify limits audiobook purchases to the web, creating unnecessary friction. By simplifying the payment experience, we align with Generation Z's preference for convenience and accessibility, encouraging more audiobook adoption.

FEATURES

Reviews and Statistics

Adding a reviews and statistics section to each audiobook page enhances the user experience. Reviews help users gauge others’ opinions, making it easier to decide on a title. Additionally, personalized listening statistics can motivate Generation Z to engage more, turning audiobook consumption into a fun and trackable habit.
