Barclays Redesign

UX/UI Design

OVERVIEW

This project leverages technology and innovation to design a cutting-edge digital

experience, service, or set of tools tailored to support Barclays in addressing the

unique financial management needs of neurodivergent individuals. Neurodivergent

users, including those with conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, Tourette’s, and

others, often face specific challenges in managing their finances.

Due to limited access to the Barclays app, the design was developed using Chase as a

reference. This approach allowed for creating a fresh, inclusive design inspired by industry best

practices.

SUMMARY

Problem & Solution

Neurodivergent individuals often have unique cognitive needs that differ from the general population, making traditional banking apps challenging and overwhelming to use.

Design a user-friendly banking app tailored to neurodivergent users, providing an accessible and stress-free way to manage their finances effectively.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

Research

Through research, we identified diverse neurodivergent needs and prioritized designing for ADHD and dyslexia.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

User Journey

We mapped the user journey to understand the challenges users with ADHD and dyslexia face when interacting with banking apps. This process helped identify essential design elements to ensure accessibility and usability in the final solution.

When first launched, users can activate Simple Mode and customize the interface to suit their preferences. This mode immediately identifies user pain points and adjusts the interface accordingly.

Larger text and intuitive icons

The app provides an easy-to-use mode with larger text and intuitive icons to enhance accessibility, specifically addressing the focus challenges many ADHD users face by emphasizing clear, bold visuals for a more user-friendly experience.

QR Code for Easy Access

Considering that users with ADHD may struggle with remembering PINs, the app offers a QR code feature as an alternative. This allows users to scan the code easily from any device, providing seamless and hassle-free access.

Voice Support

To address the challenges faced by users with dyslexia in reading text, we integrated a voice support feature. This tool enables users to seamlessly move to any section of the app while having the content read aloud to them. By offering this enhanced accessibility, the feature allows users to complete banking tasks more efficiently and with greater ease than ever before.
