SUMMARY

Problem & Solution

Patients with chronic renal failure have difficulty managing their diet and always eat similar foods. What if there was a way to enjoy food easily and quickly without worry?

Create a user-friendly recipe app that shows a variety of recipes for a patient with chronic kidney disease.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

Research

Through research, I learned that food is important for patients with kidney disease. Additionally, diet management is very crucial, as the choice of food can worsen health conditions.

“Over time, kidneys lose the ability to control sodium-water balance.”

- cdc.gov

“People who have kidney failure may do better if they refrain from diets that are high in animal protein.”

- New York Times

“What you eat and drink can help your kidneys maintain a healthy balance.”

- National Institutes of Health

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

Interviews

I conducted interviews to understand the target audience. Through interviews, I found out that people with renal failure spend a lot of time on dietary management.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

Experience Principles

Be Clear

Users will not use it if there is no distinctiveness and the purpose is unclear.

User Friendly

Users want something easy to use and understand.

Save Time

Users don't want to waste time while using the app.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS

User Journey

This user journey revealed that users preferred a more tailored approach to meal planning. Instead of browsing through countless recipes, they wanted a feature to filter for necessary nutrients and avoid specific ingredients, enabling a quicker and more efficient way to receive personalized meal recommendations. This insight shaped the design strategy to prioritize simplicity and customization.

Features

Customized Recipes

Since each person requires different nutrients, it provides recipes tailored to each individual after they input their necessary information.

Meal Planner

Not just providing recipes, but also a feature that allows for the quick and easy creation of a personalized diet plan using those recipes.

Tracking Nutrient

Using a tracking system, it shows more easily and clearly whether the user is following a diet suitable for their needs.

How to start

Users begin by inputting their daily nutrient requirements and dietary preferences. Based on this information, the app automatically generates personalized recipe recommendations tailored to their needs.

Meal Planning Made Easy

Through the search page, users can filter and find recipes based on the type of food they want to eat. For those who find searching for recipes tedious, a one-click feature on the meal plan page generates a daily meal plan automatically, making it effortless to organize meals for the day.

Try Prototype:

Track and Monitor Nutrients

Once users create their daily meal plan, they can compare their nutrient intake with their goals using a completion tracker. A visual graph displays any nutrient deficiencies, and the user’s overall nutritional status for the month can be reviewed on their profile page.
